Do You Need ChatGPT to **** Your Wife? (AUTOMATION VS HUMAN FLOURISHING)
New Video Essay + @PeoplesUni on YouTube!
“The automation of life more generally (outside of work) is less desirable than the automation of work: there are important threats to human well-being, meaning, and flourishing that are posed by the use of automating technologies in everyday life. We need to carefully manage our relationship with technology to limit those threats.” — John Danaher, Automation and Utopia: Human Flourishing in a World Without Work

Greetings, substackers!
Although I haven’t posted any essays recently, I am now experimenting with a new format — video essays over on YouTube! I am affectionately calling my channel “The People’s University” (@PeoplesUni) with the goal of posting
My first long-form video explores the Philosophy of Technology, and specifically the question of automation versus human flourishing. You can view my full video (and subscribe!) on YouTube @PeoplesUni.
I appreciate your support as always, and let me know your thoughts on this topic + new format! I’m planning to try to post a video essay at least 1-2 times per month over the summer, and will continue into the fall if they are successful.
If you want to support my content creation, you are welcome to pledge subscriptions here on Substack or subscribe over on my Patreon (where I have lots of existing bonus content, although I’m not actively adding new stuff there at the moment).
In solidarity!
